Lancaster, Pa. – RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, today announced that Audra E. Balson recently earned her licensure as a professional geologist from the commonwealth. Balson works in RETTEW’s environmental sciences group.
“Having Audra put forth the effort to earn her professional geologist’s license is proof of her dedication to her profession,” said Mark Lauriello, PE, president, RETTEW. “I congratulate Audra on her professional achievement.”
Balson’s responsibilities at RETTEW involve her working on projects relating to natural gas exploration in the Marcellus Shale play. She conducts Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, assists natural gas clients with obtaining the necessary permits from the Susquehanna River Basin Commission and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and conducts geologic and hydrogeologic investigations. Additionally, Balson provides drilling and construction oversight, groundwater and soil sampling and collects and analyzes water quality, geologic and hydrogeologic data. She also prepares technical reports for environmental investigations and site closures in accordance with federal and state regulations.
